We’re Planting a church! Read Pastor Kurt’s blog about planting a new congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio HERE.
The dream and DNA of Missio Dei Church is much grander than the start-up of a single congregation. Our hope is to saturate the city, region and world with churches that are faithful to Jesus, His good news, and His mission. This means we will help plant churches locally, regionally, and abroad. Missio Dei is a member of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network. Acts 29 is not a denomination, but rather a network of churches from many denominations who partner together to plant more churches. The Acts 29 Network rests on four pillars: Christian, Evangelical, Missional, & Reformed. For more information, visit the Acts 29 Network.
Additionally, Missio Dei has partnered with other A29 churches in our region to create the Greenhouse Cooperative, which exists to provide missional church planting pastors encouragement, accountability, credibility and assistance during the early formational seasons of their church plants. It serves to provide a safe and healthy environment for qualitative growth by collaborating along training and assistance for church planting pastors. Our cooperative meets every other month at our building downtown Asheville from 9am (for Acts 29 members and candidates), and at 11am for those outside the Network. We have a time of prayer, training and dialogue and go out for lunch. The time has been extremely profitable and is influencing multiple churches for the Gospel.
We currently provide support and assistance to both domestic and international church plants. Our international support goes to Gabriel Kisanga, a member of Acts 29 International, serving in the DR Congo developing pastors and church planters throughout the DR Congo, Rwandi, Burundi (the most violent places on earth). Domestically, we currently support two churches in our region. First, Andy Hughes, an Acts 29 plant called Journey Church of the Highlands in Boone, NC (home of Appalachian State University). Second, John ‘Phud’ Chambers, also an Acts 29 plant called Remedy Church in Rock Hill, SC.
