Bryan Robbins – Lead Pastor / Elder
Originally from Tampa, FL, I’ve called Asheville home since 1990. After graduating from UNC-Asheville in '04, I joined the staff of a local church and later developed and led a mission of that church before teaming up with Kurt Hannah to plant Missio Dei in 2007. I’ve served as an elder and even the worship pastor here before becoming the lead pastor in 2010.
I’m privileged to be the husband of Christina, whom I met in my high school chemistry class. We were married in 2003 and have three children: Elijah, Sophia, and Ezra. In my spare time, I enjoy playing in the yard with my kids, or tinkering on my motorcycle.
John Parrish – Executive Pastor / Elder
My personal mission is to enable others to think deeply, choose wisely, live godly and to intentionally multiply others who will do the same. I love being a resource, encourager and mentor to Christian ministry leaders. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, taking on 6000' peaks, growing roses and watching movies.
I’ve worked with the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville as the director of program, and for Serve International in Atlanta as the director of leadership training. I graduated from Covenant College (B.A) Lookout Mountain, TN, Gordon-Conwell Seminary (M.Div.) South Hamilton, MA, Arrow Leadership Ministries (2001) Vancouver, BC, and completed a D.Min in Christian Leadership with Gordon-Conwell Seminary Charlotte, NC.
Phyllis and I have two adult children and have been with Missio Dei since 2011.
Fred Brinson - Elder
I was raised in Indianapolis, IN and moved to Weaverville, NC in October 1984. My vocation was in the field of Mechanical Engineering, primarily in the pharmaceutical/biological and medical device industry. I retired from RCA Corp. Audio and Data Duplication division in 1996. My wife, Beverly was raised in Hendersonville, NC, attended Asheville High and worked as a nurse in the Buncombe County home health and hospice system for many years.
We have been married for 27 years and have four living children and twelve grandchildren! We joined Missio Dei Church in 2010 and in November 2011, I was ordained as an Elder for the church.
God has put on our hearts the need to pray for his Kingdom on earth. I believe in the power of prayer for reconciliation and healing of the physical and spiritual needs of his people. My life verse is James 5:16b "The effectual and fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
Jon Beaver - Elder
I was born and raised in Ohio but am well travelled, living in Massachusetts, Georgia and South Carolina. My wife of 16 years, Melinda, and I first came to Missio Dei on Easter 2008. An engineer employed by Eaton Corporation, I was relocated for work to Greenwood, SC in 2010 where our only child Paul was born a few months later. Much to our delight, God brought us back to Asheville and Missio Dei in August, 2012. We live in South Asheville with our four dogs and Orange, the family goldfish.
Laura Buckwalter – Next Steps Coordinator
I was born and raised in the small town of Muncie, Indiana. My husband, Andy, and I met at Taylor University during my freshman year while serving on a mission trip to El Salvador. After graduating in 2011, Andy moved to Asheville to work at New City Christian School. Andy's been attending Missio since 2012 and after our wedding in July, 2013, I joined him. We love being a part of the Missio Dei family!
Kendal Heck- Ministry Assistant
I was born and raised in Texas and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Two years after taking my first teaching job in Oklahoma, God placed a strong calling on my heart to move to North Carolina. Making a huge leap of faith, I moved to Asheville the summer of 2013 and joined Missio Dei my first Sunday in town. Shortly after joining Missio Dei, I met my husband Parker in our community group and got married five and half months later in January 2014. September 2016, we welcome our daughter Abby Faye into the world. I am still in awe at the work and the calling God has done in my life, and Missio Dei has been a big part of my story! I Love having a church that I can truly call my family.
Ginny Landrum – Missio Kids Ministry Director
I and my husband, Brian, grew up in the same church together in Pensacola, FL. We came to Asheville in 1996 to attend college and married in the mountains in 1999. Later, I graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Special Education. We have two sons, Neil and Paul, and live in West Asheville.
My family and I have been blessed to be a part of the kid's ministry since our congregation began. It is my joy to serve as director of Missio Kids alongside the very dedicated and loving group of servants we have.
